Infos über Pete Tong’s Label ffrr und die Sampler-Reihe „Silver, Gold und Platinum on Black“ mit einer bunten Mischung ihrer besten Veröffentlichungen aus Dance, House und Pop.
Das Label ffrr:
Der DJ Pete Tong hat ’79 bei dem „Blues & Soul Magazine“ als Redakteur gearbeitet und wechselte ’83 zu London Records*.
* = London Records entstand, nachdem sich der britische Zweig von Decca vom US-amerikanischen Zweig trennte [Wiki]
Durch seine Arbeit bei London Records hat Pete Tong dann 1986 den legendären Sampler „The House of Chicago Vol.1“ zusammengestellt. Dies war der erste House-Sampler seiner Art in UK.
Kurz darauf gründete er das Label ffrr (als Unterlabel von London Records). Hier wurde Dance Musik aus allen Genres veröffentlicht.
Die Serie „The House Sound of“ Serie wurde auf ffrr mit Vol. 3 und Vol.4 fortgesetzt. (Vol.2 wurde noch auf London Records veröffentlicht)
Der Name ist entnommen von den alten DECCA Aufnahmen, auf deren Etiketten der Text „full frequency range recording“ prangte – kurz ffrr und das Logo-Ohr.
