Das Name J.M. Silk steht für Jack Master Silk, welches ein Alias von Steve „Silk“ Hurley war (bevor Farley „Jackmaster“ Funk den „Jack Master“ besetzte). Zusammen mit dem Sänger Keith Nunnally entstanden zahlreiche Klassiker des noch jungen House Genres.
