Die erste Single „Voodoo Ray“ war sogleich ein Hit.
Der Song erschien 1988 in UK auf dem Label Rham! und erreichte im Juli 1989 Platz 12 der UK Single-Charts. Er war damit die erfolgreichste Independent Veröffentlichung des Jahres.

Der Titel erschien sowohl auf dem Debüt Album Hot Lemonade, als auch auf dem zweiten Album Automanikk als Neueinspielung.

Eigentlich müsste der Titel „Voodoo Rage“ lauten…
Die männliche Stimme ist gesampelt von dem Comedy Duo: Peter Cook & Dudley Moore. Aus dem längeren Sketch „Bo Duddley“ wurden nur die zwei Wörter „Voodoo Rage“ und das „later“ verwendet.
Hier ein Auszug aus dem Sketch
aber aufgrund des geringen Speichers des Sampler wurde hieraus die verkürzte Version „Voodoo Ray“.
Der weibliche Gesang stammt von Nicole Collier
